Australian passport holders may stay in the Republic
of China on Taiwan for less than or equivalent to 30 days visa free.
This new regulation applies to passport holders from Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech
Republic, Denmark,
Finland, France, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan,
Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands,
New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K, U.S.A.
The visitor who holds any one of the above-mentioned passports
valid for more than six months and a return air ticket or an air
ticket to the next destination (as well as its valid visa) will
be able to enter the ROC on Taiwan through CKS Airport, Kaohsiung
Hsiaokang Airport, Keelung Harbour, and Kaohsiung Harbour without
a visa. Upon arrival, the visitor can stay in the ROC for 30 days
with no extension. Once in the ROC, visitors may not change their visa-free
status to obtain a visa .
Holders of diplomatic passports from Dominican Republic, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Paraguay, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Vincent
and the Grenadines may stay in the Republic of China on Taiwan for less than or equivalent to 90 days visa free.

The landing visa is available only to passport holders from Hungary,
Poland, and Slovak Republic.

- A passport valid for at least 6 months.
- A confirmed return air ticket or an air ticket and a
visa for the next destinations, and a confirmed seat reservation
for his/her departures.
- A completed application form with photo.
- No criminal record.

- Passengers entering the Republic of China
through C.K.S. International Airport may apply for a landing visa at
the Visa Office at the airport.
- Passengers entering the Republic of China
through Kaohsiung Hsiaokang Airport may apply for a "temporary entry
permit" at the Kaohsiung Station Aviation Police Bureau. The permit
must be converted into a visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or its
Kaohsiung Office within three days, or an administrative penalty for
overstaying will apply.

working days to process. We do not process anything under this time. If
we are to consider an urgent application, we must sight the original
airline ticket, however, we still cannot guarantee that an urgent
application will be processed in under two days. The speedy
processing fee is applied 50% on top of the normal fee.

- Before sending your application, make sure that your sponsor/employer
in Taiwan has obtained a work permit for you from the government agency
concerned and then fills out the necessary sponsorship forms
at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
in Taipei. The visa processing time depends on how soon the
sponsor/employer finishes all the necessary paper work in Taipei.
- After sighting the applicant's original documents (including
work permit), a resident visa can be issued from this office.
The processing time is usually three working days.
- Aliens are not allowed to work in the ROC prior to approval
granted by competent authorities following petition by their employers, as described above.
- Aliens who overstay or work illegally in the ROC are subject to administrative
penalty or other penalty stipulated in relevant ROC law.
- Subject to Article 22 of the ROC Immigration Law, holders of
Resident Visas admitted into Taiwan are required to apply,
within 15 days after being admitted, for an Alien Resident
Certificate (ARC) and a re-entry permit at local city/county
police departments or bureaus. The permitted duration of
stay is indicated on the ARC. Holders of valid ARCs must
obtain a re-entry permit to re-enter the ROC.
